Our last project of the year was to redo a project we felt we could do better so we chose to redo the Rube Goldberg machine. This was a very fun project, and even though we didn't have all the time in the world, We were able to successfully create a better Rube Goldberg machine. Our machine was better this time, because it works 100% of the time. I really liked my group and this was a great sendoff to sophmore year.
Formulas
We used multiple formulas when putting together our machine
Force:Force is how hard something is hitting something. We used force in many parts of the machine including the marble hitting the newtons cradle, the newton cradle hitting the nerf ball, the second pulley hitting the second class lever, and the marble hitting the see saw at the end. You solve for force by doing mass times acceleration.
Mechanical Advantage: Mechanical advantage is how many times easier it is to do something. It is used in our screw at the beginning, all of our ramps, and our pulleys. The formula for MA is force with the machine over force without the machine
Potential Energy: Potential Energy is energy an object has due to its height and position in a gravitational field. This is used in our machine in places like in our screw, any time something goes down a ramp,or ending, and our pulleys. The formula for potential energy is mass times acceleration due to gravity times height.
Reflection This project was my favorite and i feel we really improved in all aspects like productivity, the quality of work, and never slowing down due to mistakes .. If we could have more time, we would have made a way better presentation and we would have gone with a more elaborate ending. We also worked really well as a team and everyone got along well. This was partly because we got to choose our groups, so we all ended up working with friends. This project was so good, and I felt that we really accomplished our main goal in doing it better..
